Singing

We at the Orlinda Church of Christ do not use instrumental music in our worship services. In the New Testament, God just asks for singing (Ephesians 5:19) or the "fruit of lips" (Hebrews 13:15). Hence, singing is something that the worshiper can absolutely be sure about doing that is pleasing to God.

"Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord" (Ephesians 5:19).

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord" (Colossians 3:16).

What does the Bible have to say about singing? We are His instruments. We make melody in our hearts. If you want a meaningful song service that is scriptural, please read the document called Praising God in Song. It is full of Biblical information and some information that experienced singers feel are helpful to getting us, the worshipper, to have a meaningful song service to the Lord. We are all God's Singers.

We Sing - "acappella"

This church building probably was not designed and built in 1953 with "acoustics" in mind, but this building sure has a great sound.

Each 2nd Sunday Night we conduct a special service in which we sing more, read scripture more, and pray more. It is used as an oppoetunity to grow the young men of the congregation in preparing for the future, as well as the older men doing what they love to do...lead the congregation in praises to God in song.

Song Selections one Sunday night with about 30 people present:

The New Testament

We are not professional singers and we have no choir. The Lord has not made mention anywhere in the New Testament scriptures that people who "sing better" or "want to sing" be organized in a choir.

Song worship to God is between the Christian and God; although, it is also intended to be motivating and edifying to other members when we are joined together. God just wants us all to sing praises to Him, making melody in our hearts, and understanding what we are singing and what we are singing about. Much more specifically, Who we are singing about.
