Mission Support
The Orlinda Church of Christ currently supports two missions outside of the continental United States. One mission field is in Nigeria and the other in Brazil.

Staff and students from Obong Christian school are on an "open air" gospel campaign that occurs during the dry season.
Moses Akpanudo and many of the teachers of Obong Christian High School are gospel preachers. Hundreds have obeyed the gospel. There have been new congregations established as a direct result of the work of the staff and students. Some of the students go to the new churches and teach Sunday School classes, lead singing and go door-knocking, etc.

Dr. Moses and Jessie Akpanudo

Moses Akpanudo is a native Nigerian from the small bush village of Obong Ntak. After coming to the United States and receiving a doctorate from Vanderbilt and Peabody College he and his wife Jessie, who had obtained a degree in Home Economics from David Lipscomb, returned home. In the last semester of the 1985-86 school year, Moses founded Obong Christian High School.

Dr. Akpanudo has also continued his vision for the mission field for Christ and founded Obong University. The students are trained in Bible as well as preparing them for life in their country. Obong Ntak, Nigeria.

More than 100 women from churches throughout Nigeria's Akwa Ibom state attend a New Year's Day prayer service at the Ukanafun Township church. Jessie Akpanudo conducted the time of worship and prayer for the new year.

The Lord also blessed us on Sept 14 with 795 people present in our annual "family worship service" at the building of the Central Church of Christ in Belo Horizonte (picture attached). This is an annual event among the eighteen congregations in the greater metropolitan Belo Horizonte area.

Lord willing, our family looks forward to seeing you during our furlough from Nov 21, 2008 to Feb 13, 2009.

The Fowler's visited with us at Orlinda Wednesday night, November 26, 2008. What an awesome family.

The groundwork has been laid and the Eddison Fowler family continues to perform mission work in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

That's Eddison on the far right and his wife LaJuana in front of him. (2004)

Like all missionaries, the Fowler's are busy knocking on doors and trying to keep misssion donors informed. here are a couple of his blogs that let's you know just how busy they are:

"God blessed our campaign work yesterday in the small neighborhood congregation of Nacional. We went door to door offering prayer for the residents of the neighborhood and inviting them to the worship service last night. Six first time visitors attended the worship service. Continue to pray with us that those who attended last evening and those who will come in […]"

"Most of the campaigners arrived last Friday, Sunday and yesterday. One more should arrive today and another this Friday. The campaigners are coming from Freed-Hardeman University and from other cities in the interior of our state of Minas Gerais."

"Yesterday was a very good day. After taking care of Bryan’s passport renewal I was able to invest my time for the Lord’s cause and organize several ministries. I instructed the secretary of the National Bible School about communicating with the nuclei of the school outside Belo Horizonte (Rio de Janeiro, Belo Jardim, Cuiabá, Uberlândia, Manaus)."

It is always good to here from the mission field. We have been visited by both Eddison and Moses in 2007, giving us updates on the work and progress being made in Brazil and Nigeria.

You may be asking why support mission work in other countries. One place the answer can be found is in Jesus' Great Commission, Matthew 28:16-20.
